Diss Decorative & Fine Arts Society

Arts Society Diss is our local member of the Arts Society.   It is a charitable society, founded in 1990, which offers its members (approximately 200) a wide range of possible activities.  We meet monthly (apart from July and August) for a course of illustrated talks, with speakers drawn from a central resource and subject to rigorous selection.  They are always of a high standard.

Our presentations programme is carefully tailored to meet members' interests and is based upon regular feedback.  From September to June each year we meet on the third Tuesday of the month in the Corn Hall, Diss.

Coffee or Tea is available from 1.30 pm, providing an opportunity to meet other members, and the talks begin at 2.15 pm.  To sample the experience simply turn up and introduce yourself to one of the stewards on the door.  We invite visitors to donate a small amount to offset our expenses, perhaps £5.00. We hope this may persuade you to join us and full details are given under Joining Us.

The annual subscription for 2016/2017 is £38, or £72 for a couple.

In addition to this basic programme we also offer:

  • Visits to places of special interest
  • Special Interest Days on particular topics
  • An annual Visit, or Tour, of 3 or 4 days to key arts areas further from home

Full details of these, past and future, can be found on the relevant pages of this site. Importantly there are three areas of charitable activity for members if they wish. These are:

  • Heritage Support
  • Church Recording
  • Young Arts and Grant Giving
